Description
New to backcountry skiing or snowboarding? This one-day program is designed to help experienced resort skiers and snowboarders make the transition into the backcountry with confidence.
This course is strongly recommended before taking an AIARE Level 1 course, but no prior backcountry experience is required. You’ll learn the basic equipment, techniques, and systems you’ll need to get started, allowing you to focus on avalanche education and backcountry decision-making when you take your AIARE Level 1.

Why
Making the transition from resort skiing or snowboarding to the backcountry can feel intimidating. There is new equipment to learn, climbing skins to figure out, different clothing and layering systems, and an entirely different way of moving through the mountains.
Getting comfortable with the basics before taking on avalanche education can make that transition much easier.
Come learn the fundamentals, get comfortable with your gear, and build the skills you’ll need to start exploring the backcountry.
